Student Mobility and Research Capacity: A Global Health Experience

Global South countries struggle to train and retain researchers practitioners address local, regional, global health challenges. Therefore, it is necessary a new generation of scientists adequately, aiming develop these low- middle-income countries’ research capacity. In this regard, international student mobility fosters collaboration among institutions promotes education while building The International Federation Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) operates the largest student-run medical exchange program worldwide, providing programs since 1991. This article aims report experience Brazilian student, country, in Germany, North country an IFMSA exchange. 4-week occurred February 2020 at Faculty Ruhr Universität Bochum Bochum, Germany. assisted on various projects institution's neurophysiology department. Educational activities also included journal clubs, lectures, workshops, conference. All were English under supervision. terms assessment, work was detailed logbook, which shared with supervisors. During experience, learned through being exposed different environments, people, scientific methodologies. resulted acquisition improvement research-related skills including design implementation, ethics, professionalism, besides fostering intercultural learning. Additionally, demonstrates how more collaborative environments enhances networking possibilities.
